Season I

In this season, Ned Stark, the Warden of the North and the Lord of Winterfell, becomes the hand of the King (chief advisor) for the king Robert Baratheon. He is informed that the Queen Cersei Lannister conspired to kill the previous hand, Jon Arryn. Ned reaches King’s Landing to uncover the mysteries of Jon’s death. In Essos, Daenerys Targaryen is married to Khal Drogo by her brother to earn an army for taking over the throne. Jon Snow (Ned’s bastard) makes his way to the Wall, which protects this world.

Season II

Starks declare a war against the Baratheons for Ned’s execution. Catelyn kidnaps Jamie (Cersei’s brother) but sends him as a ransom in exchange for her daughters. Stannis Baratheon (Robert’s brother) takes his army to attack King’s landing. Tyrion (Cersei’s brother) is sent to be the King’s hand and plan a defense. After Khal Drogo’s death, Daenerys takes refuge in Qarth and struggles with the evil Pyat Pree and Xaro. Jon, beyond the wall, is captured by wildlings and faces attacks from the White Walkers.

Season III

After a win in the Battle of Blackwater, the Lannisters have tightened their grip over the Iron Throne. Robb is losing the trust of his companions after declining for marriage to Lord Frey’s daughter and Theon betrays him to acquire control over Winterfell. Jon joins the wildling army and falls in love with Ygritte. He struggles to prove his loyalty to them. Daenerys buys the army of the Unsullied with the support of Ser Jorah and Ser Barriston. Arya Stark (Ned’s youngest daughter) struggles to reach her family with The Hound Sandor Clegane. Sansa Stark (Ned’s elder daughter), in the King’s Landing, is supported by the Tyrells and the traitor Petyr Baelish.

Season IV

Joffrey Baratheon (Cersei’s son) is killed at his wedding and she blames Tyrion for this. During this chaos, Sansa escapes from King’s Landing with Petyr Baelish’s support. Arya Stark struggles with The Hound but abandons him when he is attacked. She leaves for Braavos with Jaqen H’ghar’s “Valar Morghulis” coin. At the wall, Jon suffers from a wildling attack and goes to kill the King-Beyond-The-Wall. He is saved by Stannis’s army. Ramsay gains his Bolton title after capturing Moat Calin for his father Roose Bolton, former close associate of the Starks. Daenerys decides to stay in Meereen to learn about ruling and exiles Ser Jorah after finding out about his espionage.

Season V

After the marriage of King Tommen Baratheon (Cersei’s son) and Margaery Tyrell, Cersei revives the faith of the seven and their puritan views. As a consequence, Margaery, her brother, and Cersei herself get imprisoned. Baelish marries Sansa to Ramsay Snow who tortures her immensely. Behind the wall, Jon forms a coalition with the wildlings and starts to evacuate them for escaping the White Walkers.
